In several states, the Catholic Church has created compensation programs for eligible survivors of clergy sexual abuse. This compensation process may be difficult to navigate without legal representation. These compensation programs do not pay survivors using donation money from churchgoers. Instead, payments are made through loans that the Church has taken out specifically for this purpose.
